Opus Event Trouble Shooting
I don't see a "Submit" button - How do I know my students' applications/audition is submitted and complete?
Once all student information has been entered and their recording files uploaded, you will see "Complete" in green next to their name. (if your browser window is small/not full screen, you may need to enlarge your window to see the "Complete" on the far right of the screen)
I just renewed my NAfME/OMEA membership, how soon will it connect with OpusEvent?
Opus and NAfME can "speak" in real time - but - you need to tell Opus to "talk" with the NAfME site to refresh your membership renewal in OpusEvent.
Go to your account profile in Opus (top right corner of the site) Scroll down to the "Membership Information" portion of your account profile and click "Refresh" to update your membership expiration date.
When I log into Opus, I don't see the Oregon All-State event option
Go to your account profile in Opus (top right corner of the site) and check that your NAfME membership is current. (Opus does not automatically update your NAfME renewal - you must do this yearly/manually)
Scroll down to the "Membership Information" portion of your account profile and click "Refresh" to update your membership expiration date.

Here is a link to an additional resource for the violin audition materials provided by Dr. Tomas Cotik Assistant Professor of Violin in the School of Music & Theater at Portland State University.
A note from Dr. Cotik: "Here are video recordings of all of the excerpts required for the All-State violin auditions. To facilitate the preparation of the excerpts, I have also included the scores with my fingerings and bowings as well as the full orchestral score, a brief introduction about each piece, and advice on solving the typical problems that I have seen students confront in terms of rhythm, bow stroke, articulation, dynamics, vibrato, intonation and phrasing. These articles cannot replace the necessity of slow, mindful practice or the weekly guidance of a teacher. Regardless, I couldn’t resist putting together some resources to complement and help students and teachers as they prepare the All-State audition excerpts."

OMEA All-State 2021 Clarification
During the Fall OMEA Board Meeting on September 19, 2020, there was a request for further clarification regarding this year’s 2021 All-State Honor Ensemble audition process. The All-State Co-Chairs and Ensemble Managers met to finalize and clarify this year’s audition plan. Please read below for critical information that is differentiated by grade level.
Basic Audition Information:
Auditions are due Friday, October 23 by 11:59:59 PM.
Results will be shared Friday, November 6th.
There is no charge for submitting an audition (this year only).
Due to the various scheduling challenges facing music programs across the state this year, students do not need to be enrolled in their ensemble class at the time of submission in order to participate. For example, a student who is only enrolled in choir for semester 2 can still submit materials in October.
Instructors submitting auditions will need to have a current OMEA membership.
Elementary Choir:
Since Elementary All-State is by nomination, not an audition, there will be no auditions for an All-State Elementary Choir this year.
Middle School Ensembles:
There will be no placement of students into ensembles this year. As such, no rosters or “lists” of qualifying students will be published.
Auditions are for educational feedback only. Screeners will be able to record audio feedback through Opus.
Percussionists can submit tracks for any instrument(s) they have access to. They do not need to record all tracks as we recognize that not all students have access to all instruments at this time.
High School Ensembles:
Choir
Auditions are submitted as usual. All students that audition at an All-State qualifying level in either the SA or TB choir will be listed as ‘Accepted.’ Students and teachers will be notified if they met that benchmark of excellence.
There will be no sight singing portion of the audition. Also, Chorale 61 will not be sung live, but will be submitted as a pre-recorded track using the “Full Mix” accompaniment from the OMEA website.
Strings
Auditions are submitted as usual. All students that audition at an All-State qualifying level for Orchestra will be listed as ‘Accepted.’ Students and teachers will be notified if they met that benchmark of excellence.
Wind Instruments and Percussion (including Jazz Band)
All students that audition at an All-State qualifying level will be listed as ‘Accepted’ and placed in an ensemble based on the audition materials submitted (see below for further details). Students and teachers will be notified if they met that benchmark of excellence.
For Orchestra consideration: submit the WE audition materials. Top students in each instrument category will be placed in the Orchestra.
For Wind Ensemble consideration: submit the WE audition materials.
For Symphonic Band consideration: submit the SB audition materials. This year (and only for this year) 5A and 6A students can submit SB audition materials but will only be considered for that group.
Percussionists for Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band can submit tracks for any instrument(s) they have access to. They do not need to record all tracks as we recognize that not all students have access to all instruments at this time.
For Jazz Band: submit the jazz band audition materials.
