Middle School Directors Nominate Students Online
Middle school directors who are members of OMEA can nominate their students for the OMEA All-State Middle School Honor Groups by October 5, 2001.

Conductors for the Middle School Honor Groups
Every school that nominates students for inclusion in these groups will have at least one member chosen, provided that their director is a member of OMEA/MENC and attends the convention.
The groups will rehearse Thursday and Friday, January 24 & 25, 2002, in Eugene and present a Friday evening concert at South Eugene High School. A registration fee of $140 will cover clinician costs, sheet music, food, lodging and administrative expenses. Students will stay at the Eugene Hilton on Thursday night, except for those living in the Eugene area. Registration for local students (Eugene area) will be $105. Concert tickets will be sold for $5 to cover the cost of the hall rental. Supervision will be provided from the time of registration until the concert.
Band students should be able to play a 2-octave chromatic scale by memory. Choir members should be experienced in both homophonic and polyphonic singing and be able to hold their part confidently. Orchestra members need to be able to handle Grade 3 music and vibrato, and violin 1 nominees should be comfortable in 3rd position.

Deadline for teachers to nominate their students on the OMEA web-site.

Directors receive notification of selected students, students go online to register, student receives identification number and instructions to download Honor Group Packet, inlcuding contract, waiver and medical forms. Student completes forms and returns them with registration fee to their director. |

Deadline for postmark of the following to OMEA from the director
- Photocopy of OMEA/MENC membership card with membership current through January 25, 2002
- Copies of all required student forms with signatures
- Full payment of all student registration fees
- Deadline for director's conference pre-registration
NOTE: Students of directors who are not current OMEA members, or who have not completed conference registration by December 1 will be replaced by students on the waiting list for membership in the respective Honor Groups
