Arts In Education Program
This site may be of interest to those considering further study or collaboration in the broader context of arts education. The program addresses the importance of arts curriculum (visual and performance) within the context of schools as well as community. The program's mission is firmly rooted in the belief that the arts are essential to education.

This site contains a number of references concerning grants in the arts.

Harvard Project Zero
The Project Zero home page provides a useful overview of the well known research project that has been based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for more than twenty years. Project Zero's focus is on understanding the processes of thinking, learning, and creativity in the arts at both the individual and institutional levels. Much work has been done at project Zero regarding the theory of multiple intelligences, of which music is considered to be one. Project Zero's work puts the debate about the arts and learning into an empirical context.

International Association of Jazz Educators
The mission of the International Association of Jazz Educators is to assure the continued worldwide growth and development of jazz and jazz education. Their web site includes resources for jazz educators as well as information about their many programs and membership benefits.

International Society for Music Education
The multiple references on this site provide an international perspective on music education and research in music. The International Society for Music Education (ISME) is based at the University of Reading in England and originated in 1953 as an outgrowth of a UNESCO-sponsored conference to stimulate music education as an integral part of general education. The global viewpoints available on this site make it a particularly worthwhile resource for the music educator working with an increasingly multicultural student population.

Music Education Resource Base
This bibliographic database has more than 28,000 resources in music and music education from thirty-one Canadian and international journals as well as other sources, covering the period from 1956 to the present. The journals are fully indexed by title, author, and subject. The database is searchable and maintained in part by a grant from the McPherson Library at the University of Victoria in Calgary, Canada.

Music Education Resource Links
This site originate from the University of the Pacific School of Education. It provides links to sites that provide content for each of the nine National Standards for Music Education.

Music Education Search System
This system maintains two databases of information on music teaching and learning. The music journal database contains more than 12,000 bibliographic entries for articles contained in a dozen or so highly regarded music journals, and the Poland-Cady Abstract Collection contains more than 4,500 entries relating to pre-1966 music research.

Pentatonic Music Collection
The PENTATONIC MUSIC COLLECTION consists of songs and compositions in which the notes of the melody are confined to do, re, mi, so, and la. According to Kodaly, Orff, and other theorists in music education, restriction to these five tones simplifies matters considerably, especially for less experienced students. Songs are categorized in a variety of classifications which makes it easy to search for teaching materials to match your classroom focus.

Research Perspectives in Music Education
Research Perspectives is published under the auspices of the School of Music at the University of Southern Florida. Subscription information is available on-line. The site contains a variety of research articles written by professionals working in the field of music education.

Worldwide Internet Music Resources
This site at the Indiana University School of Music includes such topics as genres and types of music, research and study, the commercial world of music, journals and magazines, and composers and composition.
